Home Remedies To Remove Keloid Scars

Scarring of skin tissue in normal after an injury or a surgery. Keloids are tough rubbery scars that progressively enlarge. Keloids form after sometime the wound is healed and extends beyond the wound size, usually formed after an injury or surgery, but sometimes they may also be caused due to pimples, acne, cuts, bruises etc., They are raised in a dome shape and look shiny, may be tender or tend to itchy. They range from pink to black color. Keloids are usually formed on chest, shoulders, back and on ear lobes. They are rarely formed on face, but usual on the jaw line. The best way to deal with a Keloid is to “prevent it”. There are many treatments for removing Keloids like Surgery, Laser treatment, Cryotherapy, Cortisone injuctions etc., Even these treatments do not completely vanish the keloid but they may leave a flat scar on the treated area. These treatments are generally not effective and involve a difficult procedure. You have only a “chance” of removing them through surgical and other methods.

Apart from these treatments, Keloids can also be treated by practicing certain tips and remedies at home in a natural way. Some of them are listed below:-

1) Aloe Vera :- Aloe Vera gel is very effective to prevent the Keloid formation. When the wound is almost healed and covered by the new tender skin, immediately start applying naturally extracted Aloe Vera gel over it daily. Apply at least 2-3 times a day. Also apply before night and sleep with it. Regular use will prevent the formation of scar on the wound area. Even if you notice the formation of Keloid after an injury or surgery, Aloe Vera gel will remove the Keloid. Start as early as possible for best results.

2) Lemon Juice:- The organic acids and Vitamin-C in the lemon juice will gradually reduce the appearance of Keloid scar. Apply freshly extracted lemon juice over the scar, massage gently and leave it over night. The discoloration will soon be removed and the gradual peeling will remove the shiny texture. The lumpy appearance will also gradually disappear but needs some patience.

3)Apple Cider Vinegar:- This is another best remedy which can effectively remove the Keloid scars. Apply apple cider vinegar over the scar, massage gently to stimulate the scar and increase the absorbency. Repeat the application 2-3 times a day, leave for 20 minutes and wash with warm water. It can also be left to stay over night. Increased number of applications will speed up the treatment.

4)Lavender Oil:- Lavender Oil has the features of restoring the damaged skin. Applying Lavender oil will accelerate the skin restoration and effectively removes the scars. Apply Lavender oil over the scar tissue, massage gently and leave for 20 minutes. Repeat 2-3 times daily. This remedy works faster when applied and left over night.

5)Garlic:- Garlic reduces the expansion of fiber and stops Keloid formation. Crush a clove of garlic and apply over the keloid, leave for 10 minutes and rinse with cold water. Garlic oil may also be used.

6)Baking Soda:- Take 1 tbsp baking soda and mix few drops of hydrogen peroxide in it. Apply this mixture over the keloid tissue, leave for 15 minutes and rinse with water. Repeat 2-3 times a day for good results.
