How to Nail the No-Makeup Look

Sometimes, less is more. We surely love that elaborate wing, false eyelashes, heavy contour that makes our face all sharp edges and that bronzer to give the sun kissed look! But Not all this is required or appropriate at all the times. Sometimes, we need to keep it low, like, say for catching a movie with friends or a coffee date. To those occasions, let us all learn how to nail the no makeup look.

1. Start with a clean base

And here base isn’t foundation. We’re talking about skin. When your skin is healthy, it shows and that will cut off another layer of foundation/powder. Therefore, always take good care of your skin. Always exfoliate well. Follow the CTM (Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize) routine well. Use natural products and home remedies to soothe and nourish your skin. You don’t have to rely on makeup much if you have good skin. Eat well, mainly citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits. Drink loads of water, this will flush out toxins out of the body. This will make you shine from the inside.

We all love that blood red lipstick and that blue glitter eye shadow. But, that doesn’t look like you have no makeup on. And definitely not natural. So save that stuff for further use but for now, stick with all things nude. Once you cleaned your skin properly, pat it dry and apply primer. Apply concealer (Tip : always get the concealer a shade lighter, it will ensure to cover up the dark circles well) and blend it, set it with foundation and apply some powder. Once you’re satisfied with the foundation, go for the remaining makeup.

3. Choose the right foundation

This is such a task! I mean, finding the right shade is such a hassle, and then finding the right type in the right shade? Phew! To get the perfect no-makeup look, see what type of skin you have first. If you have a dry skin, choose a cream based foundation and if you have oily skin, we’d recommend you take a semi-matte one. It’s better to avoid matte here because it is going to give away. However, the dewy skin finish will blend into the skin well and won’t look mattified or cakey. Also, just dust some setting powder lightly over your skin, just to set the foundation and make it last longer.

4. Eyes and Lips

When it comes to eyes, just mascara and nude matte eyeshadow is enough. Choose the right shade of the eyeshadow, go with the one that is near to the color of the skin around your eyes. A shade lighter or darker is fine too. Curl your eyelashes for that special effect and coat them with mascara. Make sure you don’t have any clumps and avoid over coating your lashes. When it comes to lips, first scrub them well so that there is no dead skin on your lips. Apply a tinted lipbalm, that should be sufficient. But if you need something with more coverage, take a lip liner that is a shade darker, line your lips before applying a light pinkish shade and blend well. The darker shade will cancel out the pink and will give an amazing natural color overall. And now, you’re done! Slay, homegirl.
